Rabbit hunts in Western Washington - Clayton Strang

A buddy and I have decided to go rabbit hunting in Western Washington, but our Department of Fish & Wildlife sucks and is no help at all. Does anyone out there have any suggestions on where a good place to hunt bunnies would be?

I'm from Pa. so no chance to scout in Idaho. We'll be heading out for elk in 2 weeks though to unit 48. We hunted the Lochsa Lodge area 3 years ago for elk and 2 friends are coming out there again also. Good luck to everyone this hunting season. PaLuke

This is for Robert Millage. We were in your general vicinity looking for wolves last year. I was extremely happy to hear you bagged one.

From Aug. 5 2010 on, I am on the lookout. For what ever. Good for you.

RE: Mine Shaft Mountain Lion vid link - Kevin Watson

If you folks would like to read some of the viewer comments posted on another forum go here. http://www.predatormastersforums.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1579302#Post1579302

here are some comments from folks that actually are houndsmen.....

http://www.predatormastersforums.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1579785#Post1579785

very interesting mix of comments. I always chuckle at people that have a judgement passing upon us that are in situations like this and choose what we do to put our selves into "hairy" messes to say the least.

I do not know these folks from the video.

7mm By Niedner Rifle Co. - Jim Gavin

This little sweetheart was my first rifle. Actually chambered for the 7mm Ackley Improved. No factory ammo available of course but factory 7X57's for fire forming have never been hard to find. The 7mm works well for me as I rarely hunt anything larger than Mule Deer anyway.

You will have to let me know when you go to Elk City...I have lots of great bread recipes. Try the roll recipe that is on the Dutch Oven part of this site, it has won in competitions and isn't very hard. The bull elk brand is great too...I got it at www.steakbrands.com. They have a huge variety and branding your bread always draws attention!

It's about time for me to fire up the dutch oven in Elk City again for the summer. Any Sams have a good recipe for me to try? I can do pineapple upside down cake, stews and chicken, but would like to venture out into maybe some breads or good hearty meals.

Cloningers sells the lemon pepper chicken that comes in a bag to cook in the oven, last year I took it to Elk City, slow cooked it in the Dutch oven (about 5 hours) and made chicken noodle soup with it in the dutch the second day, it was delicious.

RE: Steelhead hotline?? - Patrick Jensen

Sorry I got side tracked this week and forgot to give you guys a report. I fished the South Fork on Monday and the main stem Clearwater on Wednesday.

The South Fork actually faired pretty well considering the rain. I think the total for 2 of us on Monday was 11 hooked and 8 of them landed. Every single fish was a native so they had to be released

Tuesday was a quite a bit better even though the snow was blowing in sideways in the morning. We fished from Clear Creek to Button Beach and did VERY well. I caught a big fat Dolly Vardin in the hole just below Clear Creek...first one for us and we fish that river hard every year.
The only other thing odd to comment about on Tuesday is out of 8 or 9 fish that we caught every one of them was a buck. Even odder than that was that every buck was hooked in the top of the run or hole. Normaly the top of the run will produce hens as the bucks will stage behind the hens. I really have no explanation for that other than possibly the rain the day before caused fish to move up river and the bucks were just overly agressive over anything coming near a hen.
Any thoughts on the location of the bucks in the run guys?

Just an FYI to you Idaho boys, the first of the spring chinook run is starting to show in the lower Columbia (Portland/Vancouver area). Don't know if you guys make the drive or wait for some of them to make the swim to you. I'm hoping to make it out soon and start the combat fishing around the airport.

RE: Remington 700 300 ultra mag - Dustin Derrick

340 is a great round, but Weatherby Brass is overpriced. I'm not saying price dictates my choice in caliber...but it costs twice as much to shoot the 340 weatherby than my 300 ultra. Looks to me like the 338 ultra would be the gun to shoot for bear moose elk and heavier game.
